Gautam Gambhir expressed his gratitude towards former Pakistani cricketers Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi for sending their condolences via Twitter to the sufferers of the tragic Amritsar train accident

Indian star batsman Gautam Gambhir, expressed his gratitude towards former Pakistani cricketers Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi for sending their condolences via Twitter to the sufferers of the tragic Amritsar train accident in which 61 people were killed and more than 140 people were injured.

Gambhir praised the heartwarming gesture by his Pakistani counterparts, saying that despite the history of having a sour relation with former Pakistani skipper Afridi, it was difficult for him to overlook his gesture. The 37-year-old thanked speedster Shoaib Akhtar too for his condolences. 

For Afridi, Gambhir took to Twitter and wrote, “While there may be history between me and @SAfridiOfficial but i really appreciate his gesture of expressing grief for d families of Amritsar train accident victims. Am sure everyone in India welcomes such gestures. A big thanks to @shoaib100mph too for his condolences,”

The opening veteran recently celebrated his birthday by scoring a match-winning ton in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Haryana, helping his side Delhi to reach the semi-finals in the tournament.
