ICC ODI ranking expands to 16 teams

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday announced the addition of Scotland, Netherlands, Nepal and United Arab Emirates in the ODI ranking list, taking the tally to 16 countries.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday announced the addition of Scotland, Netherlands, Nepal and United Arab Emirates in the ODI ranking list, taking the tally to 16 countries.

These four countries will join the other 12 Test playing nations in the ODI list, which is lead by England.

Scotland are on 13th place with 28 rating points, one position ahead of UAE (14th spot with 18 rating points). The Netherlands take the 15th position with 13 rating points while Nepal does not have an official ranking yet but will qualify after playing at least four matches.

However, despite expanding the list to 16, only 10 teams will participate in next year’s 50-over World Cup, scheduled to take place in England.

England are currently on the top of the ICC ranking with 125 points followed by India on 122.

However, India will try to topple England when these two sides lock horns in the 3-match ODI series, slated to begin next month
