Explained: Why Wasim Jaffer Does Not Want Rahul Dravid To Be Permanent Coach Of Indian Cricket Team?

Wasim Jaffer feels that Dravid should not be made the head coach of the Indian team as his services are required to train the new cricketers on the block.

New Delhi: India's coach Ravi Shastri's term is coming to an end after the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup and there are speculations that Rahul Dravid, who is currently the coach of India's ODI team in Sri Lanka, might be the head coach of the Indian team.

These are just speculations, but Rahul Dravid has given enough reasons for us to believe that he would be a great coach. His contribution to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and also with India's U-19 team cannot be overlooked. It is because of Dravid that today, India's bench strength has become immensely strong. That's the reason India can afford to play two different teams for two different series. (England and Sri Lanka)

Wasim Jaffer, a former Indian opener, has a different opinion about Dravid being captain. He feels that Dravid should not be made the head coach of the Indian team as his services are required to train the new cricketers on the block, whereas the current Indian team has established names.

"Rahul Dravid's mentorship and guidance are more needed at the u-19 and India A level. His guidance is crucial for them to achieve the next level. So I think he needs to stay at the NCA for a longer period of time for our bench strength so that it keeps growing stronger," Jaffer said on his YouTube channel.

"The amount of good players that are coming, the credit definitely goes to the BCCI, the way they have developed the infrastructure and pathway. India now has a strong supply line. Even more credit goes to Rahul Dravid, the way he is working as head coach at the NCA and the way he guiding u-19 players, India A and fringe players. There can't be a better role model or better mentor than Rahul Dravid," Jaffer added.
