England Women Coach Steps Down From Role After Horrific Australia Tour
England Women head coach Jon Lewis steps down from the role on Friday. Read below for details.

England Women head coach Jon Lewis has announced his decision to step down from the role on Friday, March 21. The 49-year-old has coached the side 73 sides across all international formats, and managed to secure 52 wins.
However, England Women's latest series ended in pure embarrassment, as they were humbled by Australia Women in Women's Ashes 2025. It was a 'walk in the park' for Australia Women, as the hosts thumped England Women 7-0 across 3 ODI's, 3 T20I's, and a One-off Test.
Jon Lewis, who took over the reigns of the side in November 2022, failed to inspire them to a single ICC trophy in the next 28 months, with England crashing out of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 in the group stage.
England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are yet to name Jon Lewis' replacement, but have ample of time to announce one, as England Women are not playing any competitive fixture before May 21, when they host West Indies Women for 3 T20I's & 3 ODI's, followed by home series against India Women in June & July 2025, which will consist of 5 T20I's and 3 ODI's.
Official Message From Jon Lewis On Stepping Down As ENGW Coach
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as England Women’s Head Coach. Unfortunately I won’t be able to finish this incredibly challenging but enjoyable job of developing this young team, whilst winning and growing the women’s game in this country."
"I have worked tirelessly with this group of young players to develop their skills and understanding of modern-day white ball cricket, whilst still making good progress in 2024, winning 83% of all our games."
"I am proud that we have seen unprecedented bumper crowds in 2023 and 2024 and I am determined to continue to help drive women’s cricket forward in whatever comes next for me. I wish all the players the best and thank them for letting me be part of their journeys."
