Eng vs WI 3rd Test, Day 2: Stuart Broad Scores Fifty, England All Out For 369

Broad didn't let the pressure get the best of him as he attacked the Windies bowlers by hitting a few boundaries and a six to race to his fifth half Test-century in no time

A brilliant batting performance from England cricket team and a last-minute hard-hitting knock form Stuart Broad put his team on the driver's seat in the morning session of the third Test between the two sides at the Old Trafford on Saturday. At Lunch, Windies got England all out for 369

For Windies, Gabriel and Roach were the pick of the bowlers.

On Day 1, Ollie Pope and Jos Buttler came up with a fighting performance to pull England back into the game in the final session that was otherwise completely dominated by the visitors.

After rescuing England from 122/4 at one point in the game, Pope and Buttler came out in the middle to begin the day 4 for England at 258/4. In the first 20 minutes of the game, a let-off for Pope helped him survive as he was dropped on 91 by Cornwall at the first slips off Gabriel's delivery.

However, the star batter failed to capitalise on the dropped chance. A peach of a delivery from Gabriel cleaned up Pope (91 runs off 150 balls) who was nearing a heroic hundred.

In the very next over, pick of the Windies bowler, Kemar Roach claimed his third wicket of the first Test by getting Woakes bowled for just one run. With this wicket, Roach became 9th Windies bowler to attain 200 Test wickets and the first since Curtly Ambrose in 1994. Dominic Bess was the next man to the crease.

The Windies bowlers continued to wreak havoc and now it was again Gabriel's turn to get another breakthrough; this time in-form Jos Buttler got caught for 67 at the second slip off Gabriel's delivery. In the morning session, Windies bowlers managed to take three wickets for just 14 runs, putting England in a spot of bother.

England lost their eighth wicket in form of Jofra Archer (3 runs off 6 balls), who became speedster Kemar Roach's fourth wicket of the innings. Tailender Bess and Broad hanged in to help their team get past 300 on the scoreboard.

Veteran Broad didn't let the pressure get the best of him as he attacked the Windies bowlers by hitting a few boundaries and a six to race to his fifth half Test-century in no time and that too from just 33 balls. The speedster added some vital runs to his team's overnight total before getting dismissed for 62 runs off 45 balls and help his team get past the 350-run mark.

Skipper Holder nicked off James Anderson to get England are all out for 369 runs.
