WATCH: Kohli runs Joe Root out, sends him off with a flying kiss
Root’s phenomenal inning came to an end and he returned to the dressing room after scoring 80 runs off 156 balls.
Joe Root already regretted his bat dropping act after winning the final ODI at Headingley on July 17. However, he would never have thought that Virat Kohli will keep that incident in his mind and pay it back in his own style in Tests.
On Wednesday, when Root came out to bat against India at Edgbaston, he got 6000 Test runs and went on to score his 41st fifty in the longest format of the cricket. He left no stone unturned to ruin the Indian bowling attack and was gradually heading towards his 14th ton. But he wasn’t that lucky to reach there.
In the 63rd over, while Bairstow desperately went for an unnecessary extra single, Root failed to cross the crease at the non-striker’s end, falling prey to India skipper Virat Kohli’s direct hit.

A massive partnership of 103 runs came to a shocking end and the English fans present at the venue went speechless. Moreover, Kohli’s sent off to the English skipper turned out to be more pinching for the home crowd.
