Rishabh Pant Or Dinesh Karthik, Who Should Be Picked For India's T20 World Cup Squad?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 tournament is playing a crucial role in aiding the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selectors in evaluating players based on their current form. For players aspiring to represent India in the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2024, IPL is the best stage for players to catch selectors' attention and strengthen their case for inclusion in India's T20 World Cup team. 

One key selection will be India's wicketkeeper for T20 World Cup 2024. At present, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik might be in contention for the role. 

Rishabh Pant's return to professional cricket after a long 15-month break following a car accident has been nothing short of a dream comeback. The captain of Delhi Capitals (DC) has so far amassed 194 runs in six IPL matches with a strike rate of 157.72 and average of 32.33.

On the other hand, RCB's Dinesh Karthik has been a champion finisher for his team in every game he played. RR captain Sanju Samson, a wicket-keeper batter, also has scored plenty of runs but the 'mega impact' DK has made in death overs is what the team India will require in T20 World Cup 2024 tournament. A wicketkeeper-batter who bats down the order and finishes off things in style, just like what MS Dhoni used to do during his playing days.

Apart from Dinesh Karthik, only Jitesh Sharma is a keeper-batter who bats down the order and plays the finishers' role. Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul bat in the top order. Based on current form, Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant (bats in middle order) remain in the race for T20 World Cup 2024.
