Virat Kohli’s return to the Ranji Trophy after 12 years has been nothing short of a spectacle. The ongoing Delhi vs Railways Ranji Trophy Elite 2024-25 match has drawn people in incredible numbers to the Arun Jaitley Stadium (formerly known as Feroz Shah Kotla), highlighting Kohli’s immense popularity. However, things went up a notch when one fan took a chance and breached the venue’s security to run onto the field to meet Kohli and touch the Indian superstar’s feet.

During a break between overs in the Delhi vs Railways Ranji match, a fan from the crowd took the bold step of breaching security to meet Virat Kohli, who was fielding in the slip cordon. The fan sprinted towards Kohli, knelt down to touch his feet and was quickly escorted away by security personnel. The game was paused for a few minutes due to the interruption before play resumed. Videos of the same have gone viral, showcasing the 36-year-old’s fame.

The Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) offered free entry and expected around 10,000 spectators for Virat Kohli's return. However, Kohli's popularity far exceeded those projections, resulting in an even larger crowd. People in large numbers gathered at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and the overcrowding even caused a stampede-like situation. 

Videos circulating on social media show a large crowd outside Arun Jaitley Stadium, with fans trying to rush into the venue. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) shared footage of the frenzy on their official X handle.
