DDCA's Special Friday Surprise For Virat Kohli's Fans - Details Inside

With Delhi resuming their innings on Friday, Delhi's favorite son Kohli is expected to bat within the first hour of play.

New Delhi's Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium witnessed an electrifying atmosphere as Virat Kohli returned to play a Ranji Trophy match for Delhi after 12 long years.

With free entry, thousands of fans stormed the venue, eager for a glimpse of their cricketing idol. Chants of "Kohli! Kohli!" echoed throughout the day, creating a stadium-wide spectacle.

However, those expecting to watch him bat left disappointed, as Delhi came to bat late in the day, and Kohli's turn didn't arrive. But the wait won't be long as Day 2 of Delhi vs Railways Ranji Trophy match promises to be a special one, and the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) has a grand surprise in store for Kohli's fans.

DDCA's special gift for fans

Seeing the overwhelming turnout, DDCA reportedly decided to expand stadium access for Day 2 of Delhi vs Railways game.

On Day 1, 10,000 fans were granted free entry, but the unexpected surge forced officials to open two additional stands. Now, nearly 25,000 fans might be allowed in on Friday, ensuring a packed house for Kohli's much-awaited batting display.

Fans who wished to watch Kohli in action had to return home disappointed as Delhi opted to bowl first after winning the toss.

Railways put up a fighting total of 241, thanks to Upendra Yadav's 95 off 177 balls and Karn Sharma's half-century. Delhi ended the day at 41/1, with Navdeep Saini and Sumit Mathur taking three wickets each. All eyes are now on Day 2, when Kohli is expected to take center stage.

With Delhi resuming their innings on Friday, Delhi's favorite son Kohli is expected to bat within the first hour of play.

Security arrangements at Arun Jaitley Stadium will be similar to those seen in international and IPL matches. With a three-match ODI series against England and ICC Champions Trophy 2025 approaching, this Ranji Trophy match offers Kohli a big chance to regain form.

Delhi's semi-final hopes on the line

While Virat Kohli's return has stolen the spotlight, Delhi faces a battle to qualify for Ranji Trophy semi-finals. A big win with bonus points is a must for them to progress from Elite Group D. However, even a win may not be enough, as their fate depends on results of other teams.
