David Warner Joins Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle In Elite T20 Record List

David Warner, following a run of low scores, finally made his mark in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) by notching up his maiden half-century of the tournament.

Former Australia player David Warner etched his name in an elite list, joining the likes of legendary names Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard among others. Warner, following a run of low scores, finally made his mark in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) by notching up his maiden half-century of the tournament.

Leading the Karachi Kings, Warner anchored a tense chase to secure a narrow win over Peshawar Zalmi in a low-scoring thriller, capping off the home leg on a positive note. On a challenging surface at the National Stadium on Monday, Warner held firm after the Kings lost three early wickets in the powerplay. Warner scored 60 off 47 balls, hitting eight boundaries.

During his knock, Warner reached the milestone of 13,000 T20 runs, becoming just the sixth batter in history to achieve the feat. He did so in his 403rd innings, making him the third-fastest to the mark behind Chris Gayle (381 innings) and Virat Kohli (386 innings).

Most Runs In T20 cricket

Chris Gayle (2005-2022) - 14,562 in 455 innings
Alex Hales (2009-2025) - 13,610 in 490 innings
Shoaib Malik (2005-2025) - 13,571 in 515 innings
Kieron Pollard (2006-2025) - 13,537 in 617 innings
Virat Kohli (2007-2025) - 13,208 in 390 innings
David Warner (2007-2025) - 13,019 in 403 innings

Warner is one of only three Australians — alongside Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell — to have crossed the 10,000-run mark in T20 cricket. Over the years, he has represented 14 T20 teams, with his most prolific run coming for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he amassed 4,014 runs at an impressive average of 49.56 and a strike rate of 142.6. Notably, he also captained SRH to their maiden title in 2016.

Now playing in the PSL for the first time after going unsold in the IPL auction, Warner is leading the Karachi Kings. However, his start to the campaign was far from ideal, managing scores of 12, 0, 31 and 3 in his first four outings. He finally found form against Peshawar Zalmi on April 21 (Monday), guiding his side to a crucial win.
