Ben Stokes Issues Clarification After Report On England Snubbing Australia For Post-Ashes Drink
Ben Stokes cleared the air after there were reports which suggested that Australia were left waiting at the Oval but England did not turn up for post-Ashes drink session.
While there were media reports which claimed that England had rejected Australia's offer of having a traditional post Ashes drink session after the Three Lions won the fifth and the final Test match of the series at the Oval in London and drew the Ashes 2-2, captain Ben Stokes has now issued a clarification social media. He said that there was a delay in wrapping up which is why they opted to meet at the night club.
Taking to his Twitter account, he wrote: "To clarify… Our wrap took longer than expected because of multiple last time event’s. We decided to meet up in the night club rather than the dressing room 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌"

After England's victory in the fifth Test match, Stokes said that the final 2-2 scoreline was a reflection of how closely fought Ashes 2023 was.
"Actually [feeling] really good, 2-2 I think it a fair reflection of two teams going toe to toe. Australia, WTC champions, quality team. But going 2-0 down, I don't think many teams would have responded the way we did. Standing here pretty content with what we've achieved. Having played a lot of cricket, we know what it's like in a fourth-innings chase," Stokes said at the post-match presentation after England won the game by 49 runs.
The all-rounder credited David Warner and Usman Khawaja for the great start but he was confident that England would be able to wrap up the game on the final day of the series.

"Usman and Warner, they played incredible well to walk off with the runs they did, but turning up with 250 needed, you should never underestimate how hard that is. Wickets came in clusters, it was do or die, but it's been that way since the second Test," he added.
The match marked the final Test appearance for Stuart Broad who had announced after Day 3 that this will be his final match. In a fairytale end to a legendary career, Broad picked up the last remaining Australian wicket to seal an England win. It was also the last match for Moeen Ali who had returned just for this Ashes Series on insistence of captain Ben Stokes.
