BCCI Unhappy With CAB Announcing Ticket Prices For World Cup Matches At Eden Gardens: Report

It is being learnt that the Cricket Association Of Bengal (CAB) had not consulted the BCCI before it's decision to announce the ticket prices of the much-anticipated fixtures last week.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly not too pleased with Cricket Association Of Bengal's (CAB) official announcement of the ticket prices for the ODI World Cup matches at Eden Gardens. It is being learnt that the state association had not consulted the BCCI before it's decision to announce the ticket prices of the much-anticipated fixtures last week. The same has been claimed in a report carried by Telegraph India.

Former BCCI and CAB President Sourav Ganguly was at the Eden Garden on Monday for nearly two hours. When asked if he had any suggestion for the state association in this regard, the ex-India captain said: "This is totally the CAB’s jurisdiction. They’ll deal with it," as quoted by telegraphindia.com.

The same report also quoted a senior CAB officer who claified that the younger of the Ganguly brothers was at the Eden Garden to have a look at the renovation work going on ahead of the World Cup.

"Sourav was here mainly to know how Eden Gardens’ renovation was going, while we also discussed aboutstadium upgradation," the senior was officer said.

It remains to be seen whether the ticket prices remain the same or have to be revised but the CAB is hopeful of finding a resolution "at the earliest."

Notably, as per the fixtures announced, the iconic Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata will host as many as five matches including one semi-final. The President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Snehasish Ganguly, Sourav's elder brother, announced the prices of the tickets for the World Cup fixtures earlier this month with a ticket for the marquee World Cup semi-final match at Eden Gardens costing a minimum Rs 900.

Notably, if India secure a place in the final four, they will play their semifinal match at the Wankhede Stadium but if India are up against Pakistan in this knock-out match, then it will happen at the Eden Garden.
