Bangladesh Premier League: David Warner signs with Sylhet Sixers

Warner has signed with the Sylhet Sixers to take part in the seven team tournament scheduled to take place from January 5 to February 8

While serving a 12-month ban for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal, Australian star batsman David Warner announced his participation in the Bangladesh Premier League scheduled to take place from January 5 to February 8. Warner has signed with the Sylhet Sixers to take part in the seven team tournament.

The 37-year-old revealed about it on the club's official Facebook page. Earlier this year, he made his debut in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

"I’m very excited to let you know that I'm now a Sixer. I can’t wait to be a part of the Sylhet Sixers family. See you soon!" Warner said in the video.

While serving the ban, Warner along with his suspended teammate Steve Smith have continued to play club cricket. For Warner, Sixers are the third T20 franchise he has signed with, this year.

Apart from Warner, Sylhet Sixers has also included the emerging Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane in his team. These two foreign players got the opportunity to play in the new season of BPL under the direct overseas quota.

The club has also included wicketkeeper batsman Liton Das in its roster. At the same time, the team has retained Pakistani fast bowler Sohail Tanvir with Sabbir Rahman and Nasir Hossain.
