Aussie opener David Warner’s unbeaten 57 and Ashton Turner’s 15-ball 22* powered Australia to 7 wickets win against Sri Lanka and seal the series 3-0.
Warner sealed the series for the hosts with a pulled boundary as he got the job done with 14 balls to spare. The flamboyant opener, who had an unforgettable Ashes 2019, finished the series with 217 runs, and remained not out in each innings.
David Warner also became the 6th batsman and 1st Australian to score 2,000 runs in Men's T20 Internationals; joining Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Martin Guptill, Shoaib Malik & Brendon McCullum.
Batting first, Sri Lanka end on 142/6 with Kusal Perera 57, Avishka Fernando 20, Bhanuka Rajapaksa 17* emerging as major performers with the bat for their squad. For Australia, Starc, Richardson and Cummins bagged 2 wickets each.
Aussie paceman Cummins was the star bowler in the game as he finished his four overs with 2-23 in which he conceded just two boundaries off his 24 balls – both to Perera.
Now after completing the series 3-0 vs Sri Lanka, Australia has set sights on Pakistan as they will be hosting Pakistan in Sydney for the first of their three T20Is on Sunday.
