Aus Vs Pak 2nd Test: Cummins Grabs A 10-Wicket Match Haul To Seal A 79-Run Win
Pat Cummins grabbed a 10-wicket match haul as Australia seal the Boxing Day Test match in an entertaining fashion.
AUS VS PAK 2nd Test: Australian captain Pat Cummins led from the front as his impressive 10-wicket match haul guided Australia to an exciting 79-run victory over Pakistan and in the process, sealed the three-match Test series 2-0. The Australian pacer alongside Mitchell Starc thwarted the yet-again inconsistent middle order of Pakistan as what once looked like a miraculous chase became a distant dream as the new Sunrisers Hyderabad's buy shattered the Asian giants' hopes. The impressive performance of the Australian skipper was so commendable that it led him to even bag the Man of the Match award, and cross 250-mark in international Test wickets.
"Boxing day is the biggest Test match of the year and it was a nice Christmas buildup to it. Felt okay. They were playing nicely. Little bit twitchy when they needed less than a 100 runs but happy with the result and with the Rizwan wicket," said Australian skipper Pat Cummins.
Pat Cummins has had a successful and a trophy-laden calendar year with Australia. He managed to retain the Ashes, win the World Test Championship (WTC), and ultimately, the ODI World Cup.
"Crazy year, it's been a memorable one. Lots of cricket. Lots of success on the field. I'm sure we will sit and reflect on as 2023 as a very special year. An extra day off is very nice, I'm going to just chill and prepare for the next Test," he added.
Australia have now won the Test series and will be looking to do a clean sweep in Sydney as they aim to bid their retiring legend David Warner a fitting farewell, and in the process, solidifying their position in the World Test Championship standings. Australia will play the third and final Test match against Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney, from January 3 2024, which will also mark their first international fixture in the coming year.
