AUS vs NAM T20 World Cup 2024 Highlights: Australia defeat Namibia by 9 wickets in a demolishing act to enter the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Australia (AUS) defeated Namibia (NAM) by nine wickets in the 24th match of the T20 World Cup 2024 in the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium stadium in North Sound, Antigua on June 12 (India time). It was barely a two-sided affair as Australia demolished Namibia to become the second team in the T20 World Cup 2024 to qualify for the Super 8 stage, after South Africa.

Winning the toss, Australia captain Mitchell Marsh opted to bowl first. Josh Hazlewood started the innings for Australia as Mitchell Starc was rested for the AUS vs NAM game. Namibian opening batters did well to not lose any wicket in the first two overs. However, Hazlewood drew the first blood for his team as he got Nikolaas Davin out in his second over.

Australia Bowlers Rip Through Namibian Batting Line-Up

From then on it was all Australia as they did not let any of the Namibian batters settle. Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus was the only exception as he churned out a fighting 36-run knock in 43 balls. With his knock, Namibia somehow managed the total of 72-10 in 17 overs. Australia’s Adam Zampa was the pick of the bowlers as the spinner claimed four wickets giving away just 12 runs in his four-over spell. Marcus Stoinis and Josh Hazlewood bagged two wickets whereas Pat Cummins and Nathan Ellis took one wicket each.

Chasing a meek target of 79 runs, David Warner and Travis Head took no time to settle and launched an attack to the Namibian bowlers. David Warner, trying to go big, lost his wicket after scoring 20 runs off just 8 balls. Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head continued the onslaught and chased the target in just 5.4 overs. Head finished with 34 runs in just 18 balls whereas Marsh scored 18 runs off 9 balls.

Adam Zampa was awarded the Player of the Match (POTM) award for his brilliant spell that saw him dismantle the Namibian batting line-up.
