Rashid Khan, Hasan Ali, Asghar Afghan fined of breaching ICC Code of Conduct

After the nail-biting clash between Pakistan and Afghanistan on Friday, three cricketers have faced the wrath of International Cricket Council (ICC). Afghan star spinner Rashid Khan, skipper Asghar Afghan and Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali have been slapped with one demerit point and fined 15 per cent of their match fee.

According to the reports, all three cricketers have breached Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Asia Cup Super-Four encounter between the two teams on Friday.

What actually the three players did on the field?

During the 33rd over of the first innings, Hasan threatened to throw the ball towards batsman Afghan batsman Hashmatullah Shahidi.

Asghar was found guilty for brushing shoulders with Hasan while taking a run in the 37th over of the first innings.

Rashid faced the sanction for a raised-finger send off to Asif Ali in the 47th over of Pakistan's innings.

Which ICC article did they breach?

Hasan and Asghar were found guilty of breaching Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game”.

Rashid was found to have violated Article 2.1.7, which deals with “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during an International Match”.

Who levelled the charges?

On-field umpires Anil Chaudhary and Shaun George, third umpire Rod Tucker and fourth umpire Anis-ur-Rahman levelled the charges on the above-mentioned three cricketers.

All three players pleaded guilty to the offences and accepted Match Referee Andy Pycroft's sanctions at the end of the game.
