Anushka Sharma Pays Heartfelt Tribute To Virat Kohli After Test Retirement: ‘Only Those With A Story To Tell Succeed’

Anushka Sharma shared a touching Instagram Story honouring Virat Kohli’s Test legacy just days after his retirement from the longest format.

Following Virat Kohli’s retirement from Test cricket, Anushka Sharma shared a heartfelt tribute on social media. The Bollywood actress posted an Instagram Story celebrating Test cricket’s true champions, in a subtle nod to her husband. Kohli announced his retirement on May 12, ahead of India’s tour of England, leaving fans across the world stunned. Notably, Kohli’s retirement call came only a few days after Team India captain Rohit Sharma’s Test retirement.

Just two days after Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket, Anushka Sharma shared a touching Instagram story, shedding light on the qualities that helped her husband thrive in the longest and most demanding format of the game.

"That's why only those with a story to tell succeed in Test cricket. A story so long and deep that it doesn't care for the pitch conditions - grass, dry, home, or away," Anushka's story read.

Throughout his remarkable career, Virat Kohli featured in 123 Test matches, amassing 9,230 runs and registering 30 centuries, making him India’s fourth-highest run-scorer in the format. As captain, he guided India to 40 wins in 68 Tests — the most by any Indian skipper.

While his journey in Test cricket has concluded, Kohli is set to return to action soon, with the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 resuming on May 17. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
