Fresh NDA Tensions in Bihar as Jitan Ram Manjhi Stakes Claim to Rajya Sabha Seat
Political tensions have resurfaced within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar as Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) leader and former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has openly laid claim to a Rajya Sabha seat. Manjhi stated that a promise was made to his party regarding one Rajya Sabha seat, and it should now be honored. Speaking to the media, Manjhi asserted that the NDA must respect internal commitments and ensure fair treatment to all alliance partners. He emphasized that his demand is based on assurances given earlier and warned that ignoring such promises could create dissatisfaction within the coalition. “One Rajya Sabha seat was promised, and it should be given,” Manjhi said firmly. In addition to staking his claim, Manjhi also accused the NDA leadership of “inappropriate behavior” within the alliance. He alleged that smaller allies are not being treated with due respect, hinting at growing discontent among NDA partners in the state. While he did not name specific leaders, his remarks have sparked fresh speculation about internal coordination and power-sharing within the ruling coalition. The development comes at a politically sensitive time, as parties prepare strategies ahead of upcoming electoral challenges. Political observers believe that unresolved seat-sharing disputes could impact NDA unity in Bihar if not addressed promptly by the leadership.
