BCCI To Come Up With Pension Proposal For Former Cricketers

The BCCI will soon come up with a proposal to change pension rules. The offer is expected to benefit players who played less than 25 matches.

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is preparing to bring gifts to its retired players soon. The BCCI is in the process of passing a proposal related to the pension of its former players. The proposal will change pension rules and benefit players who played less than 25 first-class matches.

The ICA has long been demanding pensions to former players before the BCCI. These demands include pension for former players who have played less than 25 first-class match games, besides pension for widows of former cricketers and women domestic cricketers.

The BCCI has now promised to bring a proposal to address this matter. When asked about the revision of pension for former players, Gaikwad said, "It was discussed in the last meeting. Sourav Ganguly has assured that he will come up with a proposal in the next meeting.''

There will be change in the pension rules.

The new proposal will be followed by a change in the rules on pensions. "It's not just about increasing pensions," he said. In this, there will be mention of pension for the widows of former players. At present, 25 first-class match players get pension benefits but it will gradually come down to 10.''

The BCCI on Monday announced that players will be paid a 50 percent additional match fee as compensation for the 2020-21 season affected by the Covid-19. The BCCI has also announced an increase in the match fees of the players. The BCCI's decision has been welcomed by the ICA.
