Alexander Zverev Beats Daniil Medvedev To Win His Second ATP Finals Title

This is Zverev's sixth trophy this season. He won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. German third seed Zverev took just 75 minutes to win the match as he defeated Medvedev in straight sets.

New Delhi: Germany's Alexander Zverev defeated Russia's Daniil Medvedev to win the ATP Finals title on Sunday in Turin. Zverev defeated world number two and defending champion Medvedev 6-4, 6-4 in the title match to become the winner of this tournament for the second time. Earlier, he had won the ATP Finals trophy in 2018.

This is Zverev's sixth trophy this season. He won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. German third seed Zverev took just 75 minutes to win the final as he defeated Medvedev, the winner of this year's US Open, in straight sets. Before the ATP Finals, Zverev had lost five back-to-back matches against Medvedev.

After five straight loses, this victory is comforting, says Zverev

After winning the ATP Finals trophy, Zverev said, "I have won this title from the person to whom I have been losing the last 5 matches in a row. I had to give my best. Now I am happy and ready to celebrate the holiday with this victory. For me the season is ending with such a good win. What could have been better than this."

"It's very special, I'm super thrilled and super happy right now," he added.

"There's no better way to end the season than winning here so obviously I'm incredibly happy. But I'm now very much looking forward to next year already."

Zverev had defeated world No. 1 Djokovic in the semifinals

Earlier in the semi-final match, Zverev defeated world No. 1 tennis player Novak Djokovic of Serbia 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-3 to enter the final. Zverev defeated Djokovic for the second time in a row this year in a major tournament. He had also defeated Djokovic in the semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics.
