6 RECORDS that Karun Nair broke with his knock of 303*

6 RECORDS that Karun Nair broke with his knock of 303* New Delhi: If one thought only Virat Kohli can smash batting records in the current Indian team then he certainly has not seen Karun Nair. Karun Nair smashed as many as 6 records with his unimaginable knock of 303 not out on Day 4 of the fifth India- England Test match at Chennai.  Karun scored off 381 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 32 hits to the fence as India registered their highest ever Test score of 759/7d, bettering the 726/9d against Sri Lanka in 2009. But the day belonged to Karun Nair. Here are the list of records the young Karnatak batsman broke First Indian to covert maiden 100 into 300 Karun Nair became the first Indian batsman and the third in world to convert his maiden century into a triple hundred. Previously, Vinod Kambli held the record for the highest Indian score by a maiden centurion with his 224. The world record still stands with Garry Sobers for his unbeaten knock of 365 and apart from him and Karun only Bob Simpson was able to convert his maiden ton into a massive triple century. Second Indian after Sehwag to get to 300 Karun Nair ended Virender Sehwag’s solitude after he joined him to become only the second Indian to score a triple century. Virender Sehwag has two triple centuries to his credit, 319 against South Africa, the highest score by an Indian in Test matches and 309 against Pakistan. Highest score by an Indian batting at No.5 or below Karun Nair shattered the record of the highest score by an Indian batting at No. 5 or below. Coming into bat at No. 5 Nair eclipsed MS Dhoni’s knock of 224 against Australia in 2012. Quickest to score a triple century (in terms of innings) The 25-year-old Karun Nair scored his first triple century in only his third Test innings, the least taken by any batsman to get to that landmark. Previously the record stood with England’s Len Hutton, the legendary batsman had taken 9 innings to score his first triple century. Highest individual score against England Karun Nair went passed Virat Kohli’s 235 to notch up the highest score by an Indian against England. 6th Youngest to score a 300 At 25 years and 13 days, Karun Nair became the sixth youngest to score a triple ton. Garry Sobers is the youngest to notch up a 300 at the age of 21 years and 213 days.
