Axiom 4 Launch Live Updates: NASA's Axiom 4 Mission launched for its journey to the International Space Station on Wednesday after experiencing several delays. ISRO astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla is one of the four crew members on this space flight hosted by SpaceX. 

SpaceX's new Dragon spacecraft will begin the liftoff from Launch Complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. The spacecraft will be launched via the company's Falcon 9 rocket. 

The spacecraft is scheduled to dock at around 4:30 pm IST on Thursday, as per NASA's statement. 

Axiom 4 Mission Crew Members 

The private astronaut mission will have four crew members aboard headed by American astronaut Peggy Whitson while Shukla will be the pilot. 

European Space Agency project astronaut Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski from Poland and HUNOR astronaut Tibor Kapu from Hungary will serve as mission specialists.

The astronauts are scheduled to be at the International Space Station for 14 days where they will conduct around 60 science experiments.

Axiom 4 Launch LIVE: 'Dèjà-Vu' Moment For Indian Air Force As It Lauds Shubhanhsu Shukla

India Air Force congratulated Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla for his achievement as he sets off for space journey 41 years after Rakesh Shukla. 

"From conquering the skies to touching the stars- a journey powered by the indomitable spirit of the IAF Air Warrior. Group Captain Shubahanshu Shukla sets forth on a landmark Space Mission, carrying the pride of the nation beyond Earth," said the Indian Air Force in a post on X. 

"This is a dèjà-vu moment for India, 41 years after the mission of Sqn Ldr Rakesh Sharma, who first carried our Tricolour beyond Earth.  Being more than a mission, it is a reaffirmation of India’s ever-expanding horizon," it added.

Axiom 4 Launch LIVE: 'India No Longer Follower...,' Science Minister Hails Shubhanshu Shukla

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, hailed Shubhanshu Shukla's space feat, saying India is no longer a follower but an equal partner. "Subhanshu Shukla, the Indian member of the crew, is going to be the most crucial component of this entire mission, which is going to last about 2 weeks or so, because he is the pilot and he is going to perform seven exclusive experiments which have been designed by India,” he said. 

Earlier, after Falcon 9's liftoff, Singh congratulated Shukla, calling it a proud moment for India. 

"Congratulations Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla — you are the first Indian Astronaut to embark on a mission to the International Space Station," Singh said in a post on X.
