Observed twice a month, on the Trayodashi of both the waxing and waning lunar phases, this fast is believed to bring peace, prosperity, and spiritual upliftment. When this sacred vrat coincides with a Sunday, it takes on even greater spiritual significance and is known as Ravi Pradosh Vrat. Devotees believe that observing this fast with sincerity helps remove obstacles and attracts the blessings of Lord Shiva.
In 2025, Ravi Pradosh Vrat will be observed on June 8, which falls on the Trayodashi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Jyeshtha. On this day, devotees perform special pujas, chant mantras, and maintain a day-long fast to seek divine grace and fulfillment of their wishes.

Why Ravi Pradosh Vrat Is Spiritually Important
According to Hindu beliefs, those who observe Ravi Pradosh Vrat with sincerity are blessed with peace, health, and liberation from obstacles. Puja is performed both during the day and in the evening, particularly during the Pradosh Kaal. Devotees chant the Shiva Chalisa, listen to the Pradosh Vrat Katha, and perform aarti with devotion to seek Lord Shiva’s grace.
Dos And Don’ts To Follow On Ravi Pradosh Vrat
Astrologers suggest observing a series of 11 to 26 Pradosh Vrats and concluding them with a proper Udyapan ceremony. It is advised not to abruptly discontinue the fast midway. On this day, devotees should refrain from wearing black, engaging in disputes, or harboring negative thoughts. Consumption of onion, garlic, or tamasic food is also discouraged.
Only after completing the rituals should one consume light, sattvik food or fruits. The fast is traditionally concluded during the Chaturdashi Tithi the following day, marking a spiritually complete and meaningful observance.
