Karwa Chauth For Newly Married Women

Sargi Timing - Sargi holds great significance on Karwa Chauth. The mother-in-law gives Sargi to her daughter-in-law, which includes items for adornment, sweets, fruits, and clothes. On Karwa Chauth, married women should wake up during Brahma Muhurat, take a bath, and first seek blessings from their elders. Sargi should be consumed before sunrise, after which the Nirjala fast begins.

Sixteen Adornments - The first Karwa Chauth fast for a newlywed bride is considered very special. On this day, married women should adorn themselves with 16 adornments. It is believed that this enhances good fortune. Apply henna on your hands, and offer all the adornment items to Goddess Parvati during the puja. The fasting woman should wear red-colored attire on Karwa Chauth. For those observing the fast for the first time, wearing a red wedding outfit or red saree on this day is considered auspicious.

Give 'Baya' To Your Daughter - Just as a mother-in-law gives 'Sargi' to her daughter-in-law, a 'Baya' is sent from the daughter's maternal home. On Karwa Chauth, the tradition of sending sweets and gifts to the daughter’s in-laws is referred to as 'Baya.'

How To Break The Fast - The puja for Karwa Chauth should be performed in the evening. During this time, make sure to listen to the story. After offering water to the moon, break your fast. After worshipping the moon, drink water from your husband’s hands first, then consume the prasad from the puja, and finally have a satvik meal.
