Chhath Puja 2024: The vibrant Chhath festival is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across various states in India. After completing rituals like 'Nahay Khay', 'Kharna and offering Arghya to the setting Sun on the evening of November 7, the festival will conclude on the morning of November 8 with Arghya to the rising Sun. This festival is dedicated to Chhath Maiya and the Sun God, Surya Dev, emphasising the importance of worshipping Surya Dev.

What Is Usha Arghya?

On Day 4 of Chhath Puja, devotees perform the significant ritual of Usha Arghya, offering prayers to the rising Sun. After observing three days of fasting, with a 36-hour fast on the third day, worshippers gather at sunrise to present offerings such as fruits, the traditional sweet thekua, and sugarcane. This marks the breaking of their fast as they seek blessings from the Sun God for well-being, prosperity, and happiness.

Chhath Vrat Paran Vidhi

When breaking the Chhath fast, first accept the offerings like Thekua, sweets, and then drink raw milk. It is believed that the fast is only complete after consuming the prasad. Before breaking the fast, seek the blessings of elders and share the prasad offered to Chhathi Mata with everyone.

While breaking the fast, avoid consuming spicy food. The effects of the Chhath fast bring prosperity, wealth, and good fortune. The benefits of the fast are only attained when it is broken correctly.
