As the situation in the northern sector remained "tense" in light of the deployment of PLA troops, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asked the Army to maintain a strong vigil along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China on Wednesday, reported news agency PTI.

According to sources, in his speech at the Army Commanders' Conference, Singh urged the armed forces to pay attention to global geopolitical shifts and adapt their plans and strategies accordingly. "The situation is tense due to deployment of PLA troops in the northern sector. Our armed forces, especially the Indian Army, will have to continuously keep their vigilance in order to maintain the security of the LAC," he said, according to the sources.

The three-year border dispute in eastern Ladakh was the context for Singh's remarks. The country's security, according to the defense minister, is the government's "topmost priority." He stated at the Delhi conference, "I assure all of you that it is the whole endeavour of the government to provide the best weapons and facilities to each and every soldier posted on the border."

Monday marked the start of the five-day Army Commanders' Conference. It is discussing ways to improve the force's combat capability and the challenges to India's national security along its borders with China and Pakistan. The defense minister stated that Jammu and Kashmir are experiencing peace and stability and that the number of terrorist activities in the Union Territory has significantly decreased.

Singh stated, "In the North-Eastern states too, there has been a lot of improvement in the internal security scenario following operations carried out by the Indian Army." "Nevertheless, we have to be vigilant against anti-national organisations that challenge the government's efforts for peace," he added.

In addition, Singh stated that "many uncertainties" will make future warfare highly unpredictable. The Army Commanders' Conference is an apex-level biannual event that is held in April and October consistently.
