Who Is Varang in Avatar: Fire and Ash? Meet The Fiery New Villain of Avatar 3

The trailer was shown to select press at Disney's Los Angeles and New York offices, according to the New York Post.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to release in theatres on December 19.

The trailer introduces a new villain named Varang, voiced by Oona Chaplin of Game of Thrones fame.

Varang is depicted wearing a spiky red-and-black headdress and is shown in a volcanic, magma-lit landscape.

She is believed to be the leader of the Mangkwan Clan, also known as the Ash People, a Na’vi tribe that lives in volcanic mountain regions.

Varang is seen wielding a flamethrower in the trailer, indicating a more militarised and aggressive Na'vi culture.

A key scene shows Varang apparently holding Kiri hostage—Jake and Neytiri’s daughter, played by Sigourney Weaver.

She delivers the line “Your goddess has no dominion here,” challenging Kiri’s connection to Eywa, the Na'vi deity.

This line hints that the Ash People either worship a different god or reject spiritual belief altogether.
