The procedure of depositing and exchanging Rs 2,000 notes began on May 23. The RBI said that in order to avoid any disruption of regular activities of bank branches and ensure operational convenience, the exchange of Rs 2,000 notes could be made up to a limit of Rs 20,000 at a time at any bank. Banks have further clarified that people don't need to fill any form or submit any identity proof to deposit/exchange their Rs 2,000 notes up to Rs 20,000 at a time.
