Your favourite Hyundai Santro hatchback is back! All you need to know

The new car is powered by a 4-cylinder 1.1 litre petrol engine and comes with automated manual transmission (AMT) along with factory-fitted CNG fuel options.

New Delhi: South Korean car maker Hyundai on Tuesday re-launched its once popular hatchback, Santro, in an all-new avatar. Like always, prices of the newly launched car variants are its main attraction with starting ex-showroom Delhi price at Rs 3.89 lakh. As per the company, the new car is powered by a 4-cylinder 1.1 litre petrol engine and comes with automated manual transmission (AMT) along with factory-fitted CNG fuel options. The new Hyundai hatchback will be available in five different variant levels and the introductory prices would be for the first 50,000 customers. The manual variants of the car, including two CNG powered trims, are priced between Rs 3.89-5.45 lakh, whereas the two variants with automated gear shift are priced at Rs 5.18 lakh and Rs 5.46 lakh, said the company. The South Korean car maker operates in India through its wholly-owned subsidiary Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) and had discontinued the previous Santro model in December 2014. Speaking with media on the occasion, HMIL Managing Director and CEO Y K Koo said, “The all- new Santro is a true example of Hyundai’s Made in India philosophy and a shining result of numerous product clinics and rigorous durability test on various terrains in India.” “Our R&D centres in Nanyang in South Korea, Chennai and Hyderabad have put strong efforts for product supremacy and utmost customer delight,” he added. Koo further informed that Hyundai has invested over $100 million on the all-new Santro and the new models were developed under the code name AH2, over the last three years. Hyundai’s new model comes with a localisation level of 90 per cent. The all new Santro also boasts several other features including rear parking camera, voice recognition and eco-coating technology. Safety features of the cars include ABS with EBD and impact sensing auto door unlock. According to a report by Cardekho.com, the all new Santro is also available with factory-fitted CNG kit in the Magna and Sportz variants. With CNG, the 1.1-litre petrol engine makes 69PS/84Nm with a 5-speed MT. Hyundai is not offering AMT option with CNG-powered Santro.
