Yamaha Launches R15 V3.0.0 MotoGP Limited Edition In India

Following the recent price hike for the Yamaha R15 V3.0, the Japanese manufacturer has launched the MotoGP edition of the bike at Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). As the name suggests, the new livery is inspired from Yamaha’s MotoGP bike which sports the deep blue colour with the Movistar logo on the front and sides, and an ENEOS logo on the belly pan. Yes, the stickers have been limited to a bare minimum and you also miss out on Valentino Rossi or Maverick Vinales race numbers. Bummer right?

Additionally, Yamaha will introduce the new livery as part of a campaign called ‘The Call of the Blue’. The campaign essentially involves online and offline marketing and customer engagement activities. Yamaha will also offer multiple engagement platforms with the intent of involving every Yamaha owner in India with the brand.

The MotoGP edition R15 which features upside-down forks is already available in a couple of Southeast Asian markets. However, the bike launched in India employs conventional forks, same as the current R15 V3.0.0, on sale in the country. It also features four LED headlights, an LED tail light and an all-digital instrument cluster, same as the standard variant. Apart from the basic readouts, the digital console offers fuel consumption reading and a clock as well.

Powering the bike is the same 155cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled motor that produces 19.3PS of power and 15Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission aided by a slip and assist clutch. The third-gen R15 also features Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), allowing the engine to run two different valve timings - one for lower end performance and another to aid top-end grunt.

Priced at Rs 1.30 lakh, the MotoGP Edition of the Yamaha R15 commands a premium of Rs 3,000 over the standard model owing to the new paint job and graphics. It will compete with the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 (Rs 1.26 lakh) and the KTM RC 200 (Rs 1.77 lakh - all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). Most importantly, you can book your R15 V3.0.0 MotoGP Edition via Yamaha's online portal, while a token amount of Rs 10,000 is to be paid at selected dealerships. Deliveries for the same will commence from next month. www.yamahar15v3motogpedition.com
