US President Donald Trump Bans H-1B Workers From Federal Govt Contracts; Know Why Is It Panicky For Indians

Due to this decision, several Indians who were on the cusp of getting a visa to enter the United States as a professional have received a massive setback.

New Delhi: With just few months left for the US Presidential Elections, President Donald Trump on Monday signed an executive order to woo his conservative base and announced to ban technology workers on H-1B visas from replacing American citizens in federal government contracts.  According to several media reports , Trump in the Oval Office of the White House on Monday told reporters "Today I am signing an executive order to ensure that the federal government lives by a very simple rule, higher American." "As we speak, we're finalising the H-1B regulation so that no American workers be replaced ever again. H-1B should be used for top highly paid talent to create American jobs, not as inexpensive labour programmes and destroy American job,” President Trump said, while speaking in presence of individuals campaigning against job outsourcing. Trump's decision came after the federally-owned Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) said that it will outsource 20 percent of its technology jobs to companies based in foreign countries. The H-1B work visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to hire foreign nationals as employees in specialty occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise. On this it was observed that around 200 American workers were to lose their jobs over the next five years. For Indians, H-1B is the most important work visa, particularly for technology professionals. Due to this decision, several Indians who were on the cusp of getting a visa to enter the United States as a professional have received a massive setback. The decision will have an adverse impact on thousands of Indian IT professionals. It can be recalled that the Trump administration on June 23 rolled out several visa restrictions including suspension of the H-1B work visas until the end of 2020 to protect American workers in a crucial election year.
