A 12-year-old student opened fire at a secondary school in southern Finland, injuring three other students on Tuesday, according to police.
Authorities stated that both the suspect and the wounded victims were 12 years old. The suspect was apprehended in the Helsinki area later on Tuesday.
Police received an alert at 09:08 a.m. regarding a shooting incident at a lower secondary school in the city of Vantaa, located just outside the capital, Helsinki. The school has approximately 800 pupils. According to the Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat, the suspect was apprehended in the Helsinki area later on Tuesday.
"There are people injured in the shooting incident", police said in a statement shortly after 10:00 a.m, AFP reported.
