Poseidon Super Torpedoes, Capable To Turn Coastal Cities Inhabitable, Produced For Belgorod Nuclear Submarine: Report
Poseidon has been defined by both US and Russia as a new category of retaliatory weapon that is capable of triggering radioactive ocean swells to render coastal cities uninhabitable.
Russia has come up with its first set of 'Poseidon' nuclear-capable super torpedoes to be deployed on the Belgorod nuclear submarine, reported news agency Reuters citing Russian news agency TASS. Following a stern message on New Year’s eve that described the West as Russia's true enemy in the war on Ukraine, Putin offered several hints indicating Kremlin will not back down.
The hypersonic missiles have been dispatched to the Atlantic and appointed his top general to run the war, Reuters reported.
'Poseidon' has been defined as a new category of retaliatory weapon that is capable of triggering radioactive ocean swells to render coastal cities uninhabitable.

"The first set of Poseidons have been manufactured, and the Belgorod submarine will receive them in the near future," TASS, a Russian state news agency, quoted a source saying.
The major components of 'Poseidon', including a nuclear reactor that offers the torpedo its own power source, had been successfully completed. The crew of the Belgorod nuclear submarine has also completed tests with models of the torpedo, TASS reported.
Initially, Putin first mentioned the weapon now known as 'Poseidon' way back in 2018, saying it was a fundamentally new type of strategic nuclear weapon and said it would have its own nuclear power supply.
Even though there is information in the public domain about the weapon, it is essentially a cross between a torpedo and a drone that can be launched from a nuclear submarine.
Russia's defence ministry has shown videos of the 24-metre Poseidon, known as Kanyon by NATO, including simulations showing it destroying an enemy aircraft carrier and hitting the shoreline.
