Modi US Visit: PM's Fan Flaunts 'Nmodi' Car Number Plate, Indian Diaspora Prepares For Welcome

As the Indian diaspora in the United States is preparing to welcome PM Narendra Modi, the Indian Tricolour was seen outside the White House amid rehearsal for the ceremonial welcome.

Indian diaspora in the United States is preparing to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will embark on his first state visit to the US next week. Young musicians rehearsed in Washington, DC while the Indian Tricolour was seen outside the White House on Friday. A fan of PM Modi flaunted 'NMODI' car number plate in Maryland saying that he is eagerly waiting to welcome him. Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar emphasised the importance of the visit saying Only a few people have been given the honour of a state visit by the US.

"The Prime Minister will be on a state visit to the US. State visit means it is the highest level in terms of honour. Only a few people have been given this honour. It is happening for the first time that an Indian PM will address the US Congress for the second time. That's why its importance is huge," Jaishankar said in Delhi, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Practice for the ceremonial welcome of PM Narendra Modi took place in the White House. PM Modi will be accorded a Ceremonial Guard of Honour at the White House during his official state visit from June 21 to 24. Children were seen practising for the welcome ceremony, as per ANI.

A musician named Srinath told ANI that a huge cultural program inviting PM Modi to the US will be held on June 21. "We have about 25 different programs lined up, participated by over 15 different cultural teams, representing various states and cultures, also representing the entire Indian culture, bringing that to the heart of DC on June 21st," he said.

PM Narendra Modi's fan, who flaunted the "NMODI" car number plate in Maryland, said: "I took this plate back in 2016, November. Narendra Modi is an inspiration to me. He inspires me to do something good for the nation, for society, for the world. PM Modi is coming here so I'm eagerly waiting to welcome him."

As the Indian Tricolour was seen outside the White House, an Indian national residing in New Jersey, Jesal Nar, told ANI, "It's really an honour and pride to see the tricolour. I go across the United States for my work purpose carrying a tricolour."

Meanwhile, Dr Ashish Jha, a former White House Covid-19 response coordinator that there is a lot of excitement in the US regarding Modi's visit as this visit will enhance the relations between India and the United States, ANI reported.

PM Modi will address the Joint Sitting of the US Congress and will also meet a number of American politicians, prominent citizens as well as noted personalities from the diaspora. The visit will commence in New York where the Prime Minister will lead the celebrations of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters on June 21.
