Pakistan PM Imran Khan Says No Trade With India Under Current Circumstances

Pakistan PM instructed the Ministry of Commerce and his economic team to immediately take steps to facilitate the relevant sectors, value added, apparel and sugar, by finding alternative cheap sources.

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has rejected the proposal of a high-powered committee to import cotton from India and categorically stated that Islamabad cannot go ahead with any trade with New Delhi under the current circumstances.

The decision in this regard took place following a Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister with regard to importing cotton and ssugar from the neighbouring nation.

Pakistan's Commerce Ministry and the economic team were, as per sources, instructed by Khan to take immediate steps to find alternative cheap sources of import of the needed commodities in a bid to facilitate the relevant sectors, value added, apparel and sugar, Dawn News Reported.

Sources, as per Dawn News, added the decisions are presented to the Cabinet for ratification and final approval after consideration by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) which studies the proposals presented to it.

The report added that the ECC was presented a proposal in tune with the same regarding allowing the import of cotton, cotton yarn and sugar from India while taking note of the domestic requirements.

Pakistan has constantly stated that any forward movement requires India to reverse its decision in 2019 to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
