Pakistan: Imran Khan Escapes Plane Crash? PTI Presents Clarification After Reports Claim Close Shave

Aircraft ferrying former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan made an emergency landing on Saturday. Media reports claimed that the PTI chief escaped a plane crash caused by a mid-air technical glitch.

New Delhi: Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan was said to have escaped a plane crash as local reports claimed that his aircraft made an emergency landing on Saturday due to a mid-air technical glitch.

Daily Pakistan citing a local tv channel reported that Imran Khan was on his way to Gujranwala by a special plane to address a rally on Saturday when the pilot of the plane contacted the control tower and managed to land the plane safely.

However, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has refuted the claims of a mid-air technical glitch.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s plane returned to Islamabad soon after takeoff due to bad weather conditions, PTI leader Azhar Mashwani clarified on Saturday.

“Reports of any technical fault in the aircraft are incorrect,” the PTI leader wrote on his official Twitter handle in an Urdu tweet.

Imran Khan then left for Gujranwala by road, he added.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan continues to rally against the Shehbaz Sharif-led government and has urged citizens to come out in different places across the country to express solidarity with PTI.

Speaking at the rally in Gujranwala on Saturday, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman directly addressed the establishment and warned that it will be held responsible if the country and economy were to "plummet any further" under the incumbent government, news agency ANI reported.

"I am addressing the people who have the power," he said at the Jinnah Stadium.

"I want to ask the establishment ... the way this government is taking this country and economy down ... I know that you call yourself neutral but this nation will hold you responsible for the way the country is going down. They will hold you responsible because you could have prevented the country getting mired in this swamp but you did not do anything," he added.

This comes as Imran Khan is facing contempt of court charges for making controversial remarks against a female judge.
