JFK Files Released: Classified Records On Former US President John F Kennedy's Assassination Are Out

US President Donald Trump has ordered the full release of previously classified records related to the assassination of former President John F Kennedy.

US President Donald J Trump has ordered the full release of previously classified records related to the assassination of former President John F Kennedy. The historic move will provide the world with unredacted access to critical documents surrounding one of the most debated events in US history.

Trump’s Executive Order 14176 stressed the importance of public interest in these disclosures, stating that withholding information about JFK’s assassination is "not consistent with the public interest" and that releasing these records was "long overdue". The directive mandated that all unredacted files within the President John F Kennedy Assassination Records Collection be made available to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) for immediate public access.

'Era of Transparency'

Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard swiftly acted on the President’s directive, issuing instructions across intelligence agencies to ensure compliance. Starting Wednesday, people world over can access approximately 80,000 pages of declassified records through NARA’s online repository at archives.gov/jfk or in person at the National Archives in College Park, Maryland.

Hailing the move, Gabbard posted on X: "President Trump is ushering in a new era of maximum transparency. Today, per his direction, previously redacted JFK Assassination Files are being released to the public with no redactions. Promises made, promises kept."

Efforts are underway to digitise physical records currently accessible only in person, with updates promised via DNI Gabbard's official accounts on X (@DNIGabbard) and Truth Social (@DNlTulsiGabbard).

The release also includes documents previously withheld under court seal or for grand jury secrecy. NARA is collaborating with the Department of Justice to expedite the unsealing process, ensuring that even these sensitive files are made accessible as directed by the courts.

The JFK Assassination

The 35th President of the United States, John Fitzgeral Kennedy, was shot dead on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. While riding in a motorcade through Dealey Plaza, Kennedy was fatally shot by Lee Harvey Oswald from the Texas School Book Depository.

Texas Governor John Connally, also in the car, was wounded but survived. Kennedy was rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1 PM. Oswald was later arrested but was killed by nightclub owner Jack Ruby before standing trial.

The assassination had been mired in controversy and speculations were rife around the circumstances of the death of JFK and Oswald despite the Warren Commission's conclusion that Oswald acted alone.
