Do You Know What Israeli PM Netanyahu Gifted US President Trump On His Visit To White House?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gifted US President Donald Trump a golden pager during their meeting at the White House, referencing Israel's pager attack on Iran in September 2024.

Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu gifted US President Donald Trump a golden pager during their meeting at the White House this week, Netanyahu's office said.

The gift was a apparently a reference to Israel's deadly pager attack on Iran in September 2024. The US President, on the other hand, presented Netanyahu with a photo of the two of them from the visit, inscribed with the dedication, "To Bibi, a great leader."  After receiving the gift, Trump reportedly thanked Netanyahu and said, "That was a great operation."

The golden pager’s screen reads, “PRESS WITH BOTH HANDS.” Below the pager, which is set against a wooden background, is a plaque that reads: “To President Donald J. Trump, Our greatest friend and ally. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”

In a release about the gift, Netanyahu's office said the golden pager "symbolizes the Prime Minister’s decision that led to a turnaround in the war and the starting point for breaking the spirit" of Hezbollah.

"This strategic operation expresses the power, technological superiority and cunning of the State of Israel against its enemies," the statement added.

Last year, on September 17, thousands of explosions struck Hezbollah members, targeting their pagers and then walkie-talkies a day later. As per the Lebanese health authorities, the blasts killed at least 37 people, including some children, and injured nearly 3,000, many of them civilian bystanders.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that at least 14 were also injured in targeted attacks on Hezbollah members in Syria. "We hold the Israeli enemy fully responsible for this criminal aggression, which also targeted civilians and led to the deaths of a number of martyrs and the injury of a large number with various wounds," Hezbollah said in a statement.

Israel and Hezbollah have been fighting across the Lebanese border since the war in Gaza erupted after Hamas attacked Israeli towns in October. Since then, several Hezbollah fighters, including former chief of the Iran-backed group Hassan Nasrallah, have been killed.
