Indian-Origin Man Killed In Front of Wife In US 'Road Rage' Incident. Probe Suggests Shot In 'Self-Defence'
Indian-origin Gavin Dasaur was shot dead in Indiana during a road rage incident. Witnesses reported an argument between Dasaur and the driver of a pickup truck.
A 29-year-old newly wed of Indian-origin was shot dead in front of his wife this week in a suspected road rage incident in the US state of Indiana, according to police and media reports. The incident occurred when Gavin Dasaur was returning home with his Mexican wife.
A video of the incident was recorded by another driver at the scene. It shows Dasaur, driving a black Honda, getting out of his car at an intersection, and yelling at the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck in frustration, according to Fox News.
A handgun is visible in Dasaur’s right hand. As he approaches the driver's side of the pickup truck, Dasaur punches the truck’s door with the gun in his hand. He then switches the gun to his left hand while simultaneously raising his right hand to the truck’s window. The driver of the pickup truck then shoots him three times. Dasaur immediately drops to the ground. The shooter never exits his vehicle during the confrontation, which lasted all of seven seconds.
Indianapolis Police Department (IMPD) officer Amanda Hibschman said officers responded to a shooting report shortly after 8 pm last Tuesday at an intersection on the southeast side of Indianapolis.

Hibschman said the suspected shooter was detained at the scene. "Upon further investigation and after consultation with Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, that individual was released," the police said, suggesting that the shooter might have responded in self-defence.
The IMPD stated that the investigation into the shooting and alleged road-rage incident is in process. The wife of Dasaur condemned the shooting while mourning her husband. “He was a hardworking man that always went out of his way to help anyone and wanted to give the world to me and his family,” she told the Indianapolis Star.
