Abhishek Sharma won the 'Player of the Match' award, as he single-handedly outscored England's entire batting line-up, and stated that 'the coach and captain back him'.
"Obviously, this one is special as it is coming for the country. Amazing feeling. I mean I have told this before as well. When I see it's my day, I always try to go hard from the first ball. The way the Coach and Captain have treated me from the first day, they have always backed me and wanted me with that intent so I am really happy," said Abhishek Sharma.
"Obviously when the opponents are bowling in 140-150 kmph, you always have to react early. The plan was to react to the ball and play my shots. No I think, obviously when you are hitting a world class bowler over the covers for a maximum, it is a special shot but I would say the sixes I had hit to Adil Rashid those were special for me," said the Indian batter.
"(Drive shots down the ground) Yes obviously I remember that because that was the shot which Yuvi Paaji mentioned last day so he was happy for those shots. Probably he (Yuvraj Singh) should be happy after this. He always wanted me to play more than 15 overs and I wanted to contribute as much as I can for the team," he added.
