The Google Pixel 9a has surfaced on yet another certification website, hinting that its official launch could be imminent. Reports suggest that Google is preparing to introduce a mid-range smartphone powered by the Tensor G4 chipset. Additionally, the device is expected to ship with Android 15 right out of the box, possibly launching before Android 16 rolls out in Q2 2025. The Pixel 9a is also rumoured to feature a 5,100mAh battery, offering a potential upgrade in battery life.

Recently, the Pixel 9a was spotted on the EMVCo certification website (via 91Mobiles), where it was listed under the model number GTF7P. While the document published on January 31 does not explicitly mention the device’s name, the certification adds further credibility to reports of its impending launch.

According to leaks, Google may introduce the Pixel 9a as early as March 2025, making it the first time a Pixel A-series phone is launched before the annual Google I/O event in May.

The Google Pixel 9a had its specifications leaked back in December 2024, revealing key details about the upcoming mid-range smartphone. The device is expected to feature a 6.3-inch Actua display with a peak brightness of 2,700 nits, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood, it is likely to be powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Additionally, the phone is rumoured to come with an IP68 rating, making it resistant to dust and water.

On the camera front, the Pixel 9a is said to boast a 48-megapixel primary sensor accompanied by a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens. For selfies and video calls, it may sport a 13-megapixel front camera, similar to its predecessor. Battery life could see a significant boost, with the handset expected to pack a 5,100mAh battery, supporting 23W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging. The device is also rumoured to include an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
