'Jhaadu Ke Tinke Bikhar Rahe Hai': PM Modi's Jibe At AAP Over MLAs Quitting Party, Says 'AAP-da Wasted 11 Yrs'

PM Modi also asserted that the Union Budget 2025 has filled every family with happiness, and claimed that it is the most middle class friendly Budget in India's history.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed an election rally in Delhi's RK Puram where he exuded confidence that the BJP would form the next government in the national capital. He also took a swipe at the Aam Aadmi Party over the resignation of its eight MLAs, saying that even before the Assembly polls, the AAP is staring at its defeat with its members exiting the party. "Jhaadu ke tinke bikhar rahe hai (Parts of the broomstick are splintering)," he said, mocking the party over its symbol.

"Aajkal hum dekh rahe hai ki voting se pehle hi jhaadu ke tinke bikhar rahe hai (Nowadays, we are seeing that even before the voting, broomstick is scattering everywhere). Leaders of AAP are leaving because they realize how angry the people are with AAP. The AAP party is so rattled by the anger of Delhi's people that they are making false claims every hour," PM Modi said.

Eight AAP MLAs stepped down from their posts just a few days ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, and joined the BJP on February 1. Although they cited reasons like internal corruption while quitting, these leaders were the ones who were denied tickets to contest the upcoming polls.

Addressing the election rally, PM Modi also asserted that the Union Budget 2025 has filled every family with happiness, and claimed that it is the most middle class friendly Budget in India's history.

He further spoke about various beneficial provisions of the Budget for the middle class, and claimed that people of India have never received such a relief since India's Independence.

"If someone had a salary of Rs 12 lakhs at the time of Jawaharlal Nehru - one-fourth would have gone to tax; if today have been the govt of Indira Gandhi - Rs 10 lakhs of your 12 lakh would have gone to govt as tax. Even just 10-12 years back, in Congress time - if you had a salary of Rs 12 lakhs - Rs 2,60,000 would have gone as a tax. After yesterday's budget of the BJP govt - those who earn Rs 12 lakh will not have to pay a single rupee as tax," he said, taking a swipe at the Congress.

"The middle class is saying that this is the most friendly Budget for them in India's history," he said.

'AAP-Da Wasted 11 Years, Request People To Give BJP A Chance To Serve Delhi'

PM Modi greeted people on Basant Panchami and said that just as the festival marks a change in weather, Delhi too will welcome a "new spring of development", as he confidently claimed that BJP would win the Delhi elections since people have made up their minds to elect the saffron party.

"In a few days, a new spring of development will arrive in Delhi. This time, the BJP government is about to form in Delhi. The 'AAP-da party' has wasted 11 years. My biggest request is that we should be given a chance to serve the people of Delhi. I promise to go to any length to remove every difficulty you face. A double-engine government will come to Delhi that will make the lives of every poor and middle-class family prosperous," PM Modi said.

He further slammed the AAP for its alleged false promises and corruption and said that while on one hand there is "AAP-da' which stands for false promises, on the other is 'Modi's guarantees'."

He said his government at the Centre has stood for strengthening four pillars of 'Viksit Bharat' including the poor, farmers, youth, and women, and that yesterday's Budget is the guarantee of fulfilling the promises made by him.

He also spoke of welfare promises made by the BJP in its manifesto, including those for women and senior citizens and also rubbished AAP's claims, assuring that no jhuggi will be demolished in Delhi and no welfare scheme will be shut if BJP comes to power.

Expressing confidence about the BJP's win, Modi said: "You can note it down the BJP government will be formed in Delhi on February 8, and by March 8, International Women's Day, women will start receiving Rs 2,500."

He then went on to target Kejriwal again over 'sheesh mahal', saying that those who live in palaces cannot relate to poor families or middle class families. The PM also alleged that AAP has committed "scam and corruption" in every field, including in healthcare.

Voting to the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held in a single phase on February 5. The results will be announced on February 8.
