Udit Narayan Reacts To Backlash Over Kissing Fans: ‘They Love Me, I Love Them Back’
Veteran playback singer Udit Narayan has once again addressed the controversy surrounding a viral video of him kissing female fans during a concert.

Veteran playback singer Udit Narayan has once again addressed the controversy surrounding a viral video of him kissing female fans during a concert. Despite widespread criticism, the singer remains unapologetic, asserting that his actions were purely affectionate and not inappropriate.
He further claimed that the controversy has only amplified his fame and questioned why the video, which he says was recorded months ago, suddenly gained traction online.
Udit Narayan’s viral video controversy
In the widely circulated clip, Udit is seen performing Tip Tip Barsa Paani from the 1994 film Mohra. As fans approach him for selfies near the stage, he leans down to pose with them, occasionally kissing female fans on the cheek. However, towards the end of the video, he is seen pulling a fan closer by her neck.
As she leans in to kiss him on the cheek, he turns his face and kisses her on the lips, leaving her visibly surprised. The video sparked strong reactions online, with many condemning the non-consensual nature of the act, especially the last instance.
Udit Narayan has a history of such predatory behaviour and yet he remains scot-free which is shocking.

What's even more shocking is that none of the women slapped him back after the act.
That's supposed to be the normal initial reaction.

Udit Narayan defends himself
Responding to the backlash, Udit insisted that his gestures were a symbol of his deep bond with fans. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, he reiterated, “Have I (ever) done anything to bring shame to myself, my family or my country?” When the interviewer replied in the negative, he continued, “Then why would I do something now at this stage of my life when I have achieved it all? There is a deep pure and unbreakable bond between my fans and I. What you saw in the so-called scandalous video was a manifestation of the love between my fans and I. They love me. I love them back even more.”
When asked if he felt ashamed or embarrassed about the incident, Udit stood firm, stating, “No, not at all! Why should I be? Do you hear any regret or sorrow in my voice? In fact, I am laughing as I talk to you. It is not something sleazy or secret. It is there in the public domain. My heart is pure. If some people want to see something dirty in my act of pure affection, then I feel sorry for them. I also want to thank them. Because now they’ve made me even more famous than I already was.”
Udit Narayan on his legacy
The singer also used the opportunity to highlight his achievements, saying, “I am the recipient of several Filmfare Awards, National Awards, Padma Shri, and Padma Bhushan. I aspire to get the Bharat Ratna, like Lataji. She is my idol. Do you know I was her favourite co-singer among the singers of my generation? I have sung the maximum duets with her from my generation of singers. When I have Mata Saraswati’s blessings, what do I care about people who cannot bear to see others successful?”
Despite the ongoing debate, Udit remains unfazed by the criticism, standing by his actions as an expression of love and appreciation for his fans.
