Nadda Convoy Attack: MHA Orders Three West Bengal IPS Officers To Serve In Central Deputation

Government sources said that the three IPS officers from West Bengal have been called on central deputation for alleged lapse in security of BJP president JP Nadda.

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday issued summon to three IPS officers of West Bengal to serve in central deputation, days after attack on Bharatiya Janata Party chief JP Nadda's convoy in the state. News agency ANI quoted the government sources saying that the three IPS officers from West Bengal have been called on central deputation for alleged lapse in security of BJP president JP Nadda. Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee has opposed centre's move to transfer all three IPS officers. "We firstly want to inform you that Law and Order subject is within the domain of the state under the 7th schedule of the state list of the Constitution of India. How in respect of Law and Order situation you can call both the two officers for any sorts or discussion? Can you under the Constitution of India and any other law, intervene in respect of Law and Order of the state?" Mamata Banerjee said in the three-page letter. Hours after the incident, JP Nadda accusing the TMC for the attack said that Mamata’s Bengal has become a state of intolerance and lawlessness and he was there by the grace of Maa Durga.
