Uttar Pradesh Man Gets Life Imprisonment Three Years After Burning Wife Alive
The matter had come to light after the woman's brother had reported her missing to the police.

A court in Bijnor, in Uttar Pradesh has sentenced a man to life in prison for putting chilli powder into his wife’s eyes before burning alive, three years ago.
According to The Times Of India (TOI), the incident occurred on April 3, 2022 in Dhampur. It came to light after, Sonu Joshi, from Jaspur in Uttarakhand, had reported his sister as missing. She was 35 at the time of her death and married to Sachin Kumar, 38, a resident of Bijnor's Dhampur. After their marriage in 2012, Sachin, his parents Adesh Singh and Kavita, and other relatives started "torturing her".
Citing the complaint, the report said that Sachin would consume intoxicants, and beat his wife when she raised objections. Sachin’s parents would also harass her. But on April 3, Sachin “deliberately put chilli powder in her eyes”. After the victim came out the bathroom after washing her eyes, “Sachin's parents and other kin grabbed her and poured diesel on her.”
"She was admitted to hospital in a severely burnt condition, and died on July 22, 2022," the victim’s brother stated, as per TOI.
According to the news outlet, public prosecutor, Pankaj Chauhan, said that an FIR was registered under sections of murder and dowry harassment. Then, police filed a chargesheet against Sachin, his father Aadesh and cousin Abhishek.
But Sachin’s father and cousin were acquitted due to lack of evidence. But on Wednesday (February 5) the court of additional sessions judge Anupam Singh sent “Sachin to life in jail along with a fine of Rs 25,000 on him”.

Late last year, a man allegedly burnt his wife alive over an argument with his sister-in-law in Bihar. The incident occurred in Bagulaha village under the jurisdiction of the Raniganj police station in the Araria district. The victim, Lusi, married Santosh Yadav in 2018.
On December 12, Lusi got into an argument with her sister-in-law, Rupa Devi, over some domestic issue. Following this, both Rupa and Santosh burnt her alive using petrol. Upon hearing about the tragic incident from nearby villagers, her father, Brahmdev Yadav, reached Bagulaha. He lodged an FIR against Santosh Yadav and Rupa Devi in the Raniganj police station.
She was rushed to the nearby hospital, but due to her serious condition, was referred to Patna Hospital. The victim died on the way to Patna.
