Here’s a compilation of the two-wheeler sales report for June 2018 where some manufacturers have posted exceptional results while others showed steady growth.

The homegrown two-wheeler manufacturer has once again topped the list by posting record sales in the month of June. The firm sold 7,04,562 units of motorcycles and scooters when compared to 6,24,185 units sold in the corresponding period last year, which translates to a growth of 13 per cent. 

Hero’s performance has been excellent this year, with the company standing ahead of its competition for four consecutive months (March, April, May and June). According to the company, it has an array of products lined up for the Indian market, including a premium motorcycle and an all-new scooter range, which is expected to drive its growth in the coming months.

Having sold 5.35 lakh units last month when compared to 4.16 lakh units in June 2017, HMSI continues to stay strong at second place. The company’s sales figures for June 2018 has also helped it register a growth of 29 per cent and gain a market share of 1.4 per cent.

Furthermore, it managed to sell 3.61 lakh scooters in June 2018 when compared to 2.71 lakh units sold in the same period last year, which translates to a growth of 33 per cent. As for motorcycle sales, the firm sold a total of 1.74 lakh units last month, a growth of 20 per cent over the 1.45 lakh units sold in June last year.

 

TVS Motor Company

TVS Motors took third spot with an overall growth of 12.1 per cent this month. The firm's domestic sales stood at 2.46 lakh units last month as opposed to 2.28 lakh units sold in the same period last year. Further, the growth in sales of its motorcycles, which stands at 14.9 per cent, is greater than its scooter sales, which grew by 13.9 per cent.

 

Bajaj Auto

Two-wheeler Sales Report: June 2018

Bajaj, which is currently in fourth position, managed to surpass everyone’s expectation by posting an 85 per cent growth in terms of domestic sales. The manufacturer sold 2.34 lakh units last month when compared to 1.26 lakh units sold in the corresponding period last year. Its June 2018 motorcycle sales grew by 65 per cent to 3.37 lakh units when compared to 2.04 lakh units sold in same month last year.

 

Royal Enfield

Two-wheeler Sales Report: June 2018

The Chennai-based manufacturer sold 72,588 units in the domestic market, helping it grow by 18 per cent when compared to the 61,671 units it sold in June 2017.

Furthermore, the firm also introduced three custom built motorcycles based on its yet to be launched twin-cylinder motorcycles at the Wheels and Waves Festival in Biarritz, France. The three motorcycles named the Lock Stock, Rohini, and The Interceptor are based on the twin-cylinder Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. The Lock Stock, a 865cc custom drag bike, was designed and developed by the firm itself in collaboration with the Young Guns Speed Shop.

Suzuki registered a 39 per cent growth owing to the 46,717 units it sold last month as opposed to the 33,573 units sold during the same period last year.

Keeping up with its social responsibilities, Suzuki also rolled out the second phase of its helmet awareness campaign – #HelmetForLife - last month. As part of the initiative, the Japanese manufacturer will distribute 60 Gixxer motorcycles and more than 12,000 helmets to traffic authorities across 12 cities in India, aiming to influence two-wheeler riders across the country to adopt safety gear.
