The Hexa and Safari Storme by Tata will be introduced with 1.9-Litre Diesel Engine

New Delhi: Tata Motors is in the process of launching its multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), Hexa, in India by the end 2016. The vehicle will replace the Tata Aria but powered with same 2.2-litre Varicor 400 diesel engine. However, a 1.9-litre diesel motor will also be offered with the Hexa and Safari Storme, the reports said. This will not be the replacement of current 2.2-litre engine but is adjusted for better fuel efficiency and power. With this new motor, the Hexa will mate either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission while the Storme will get only the manual. As per the reports, Tata is planning for smaller diesel engine due to the Delhi diesel ban. Other car manufacturers also downsized their engines in a similar way like Mahindra came up with 1.99-litre diesel motor XUV500 and Scorpio . After launch, the Hexa will be able to give tough competition to the Toyota Innova Crysta and planning to price this vehicle which will be able to attract Toyota customers. The Tata Hexa and Safari Storme 1.9L will be expected to be on the road by the first quarter of next year which is 2017. Source: vicky.in
