‘Serious Investigation Underway,’ SIT Head Parmar On Attack On Suresh Raina’s Relatives

The attack by robbers had taken place in Pathankot's Tharyal village on the night intervening August 19 and 20.

A Special Investigation Team has initiated a serious investigation after Former Indian Cricketer Suresh Raina whose relatives were attacked by a group of unidentified robbers recently, had appealed Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for a thorough probe. A cousin of Raina succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in Punjab's Pathankot, days after his relatives were attacked by robbers. The attack by robbers had taken place in Pathankot's Tharyal village on the night intervening August 19 and 20. Following the tweet by Raina, CM Amarinder ordered for a Special Investgation Team (SIT) probe in the matter. The four-member SIT is  headed by Inspector General (Border Range) SPS Parmar with SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana, Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Prabhjot Singh Virk and Dhar Kalan DSP Ravinder Singh as members. Border Range IG SPS Parmar told ABP Sanjha that SIT has already launched investigation. IG Parmar said that he himself has visited the spot twice even before the formation of the SIT. He said that as per preliminary investigation evidence of robbery was also found at the house of Suresh Raina's relatives, but the police was seriously investigating the matter from every angle. Parmar also said that he did not want to comment on the 35 suspects reported by Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta as even though what the DGP said was true, he could not say much about it. IG Border Range told ABP Sanjha that no arrests have been made in the case so far. "It's a blind murder," he said. Therefore, a serious investigation is underway. However, IG Border Range said that it was not a time board investigation, but the police would soon reach a conclusion and the accused would be arrested.
