Shiromani Akali Dal Leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa Joins BJP Ahead Of Punjab Assembly Elections
Sirsa resigned as chairman of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee just before joining the BJP. At the same time, he decided not to contest the internal elections of the DSGMC.
New Delhi: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Wednesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the upcoming Punjab Assembly Elections.
Joining the party in presence of senior BJP leaders and Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Dushyant Gautam, Sirsa said he would like to thank Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda who got him into the party.
While calling his induction helpful for the Punjab Assembly polls, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, on the occasion, said that in the politics of North India, the face that comes to mind among Sikhs is that of Sirsa. "I induct him in the BJP family. This will benefit the Punjab Assembly Elections that are going to be held early next year," he said.

Dharmendra Pradhan said it is an auspicious day for the BJP. "The joining of Manjinder Singh Sirsa will strengthen the party. Relieved of the responsibility of the Delhi Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, he has joined the BJP."
Sirsa has also been wished by JP Nadda and Amit Shah.

He said, "Due to personal reasons, I resign from the post of chairman of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. The Sikhs of the country and the world have given me a lot of respect. I thank all the members of the committee and well wishers who have supported me so far.''
